A COUNTRY BOY CAN SURVIVE

When asked What is establishing a redneck? Different answers are brilliant. The individuals of the nation are viewed as flushed, bigot, futile individuals, even Monticello. I lived in Monticello for a long time, the greater part of them are in provincial territories, yet not all. As it is unquestionably the air we are searching for, we picked Monticello to do explore. To turn into a nation man here, you should have a few characteristics like a major track like a defiant banner, and you need to wear the correct way. I experienced childhood in a world I once in a while experience. This is the unpaved street and track pickup world. At the point when I sang a course from Northern California to South Alabama during the nation kid where Hank Williams Jr. could endure, he was truly singing my northern California. 4 hours, FFA, Bath Splash Party, High School Soccer. It is free. The period before the telephone. Check in time is the main genuine breaking point. For whatever length of time that we return home some place at 12 PM, we can unravel any difficulties we need. We are Cinderella, a rustic man who returned home from the sponsorship ball. At some point, a youthful couple named Maltese and John found a kid dozing in the old seat of the entryway patio. His appearance is as superb as could reasonably be expected. I have never heard that everybody goes to a little homestead strolling on an unpaved street. There is just one intimation. There was a manually written note in my pocket. In any case, as the days and weeks extended, Marta and John have not let out the slightest peep yet, yet I enjoyed Jelly Beans and discovered that I preferred it on any surface. I'm extremely glad to play with drums, my pooches, Beagle hounds, family dairy animals. Above all, he is an eager and capable craftsman who makes fanciful and dream scenes, yet additionally scenes brimming with blue trees, red streets and purple creatures. Is this most likely a piece of information to his old neighborhood? You can pose this inquiry across the nation, however I ask this kid ordinary. Who is the reprobate in the nation where executioners in neighboring nations can walk uninhibitedly? Who endures the corn dinner that was prohibited after the family scalawag and the young men were affirmed by his folks? Who is the reprobate when your gotten away from resident causes struggle in neighboring nations? Perhaps we are posing an inappropriate inquiry. So as to appreciate this advantage, you need to take a gander at past negative variables. These are the issues shrouded in William Golding's epic The Lord of the Flies. The story is an account of a gathering of little fellows who had to figure out how to get by on an island getting by in a plane mishap. Through the story, the young men change one another, open one another, and inevitably they will battle between them. The's Lord throws questions about the impacts of guiltlessness, human advancement, and force. Ralf promptly started driving the young men. These young men can light a fire, however Jack urges them to focus on chasing as opposed to fire. Fire is wild. The young man vanished and was dared to have passed on.

Film adjustments of books are every now and again ‘castigated and held to a foolishly thorough standard of loyalty (Steam Bibb, p. 15). In the event that key scenes from a novel are pruned for film, crowds regularly respond contrarily. In any case, loyalty isn't a proper measure for assessing a film adjustment's prosperity, as various researchers agree (Despond ; Hawkers 2006; Letch 2008; McFarland 1996; Miller ; Steam 2004). Making a decision about film adjustments is at last, Whelan (1999, p. ) fights, ‘an vague science hounded by esteem decisions about the relative masterful worth of writing and film'. A fanatic of a novel may slander a film adjustment which modifies the first book in some style, yet their reaction is profoundly emotional and neglects to consider the practices and real factors of film creation (McFarland 2007, p. 26). Once in a while there are justification for antagonistic vibe. Creator Alan Moore has seen some of his unpredictable realistic books adjusted into shallow Hollywood items, making him very disparaging of movie produ cers and the movie producer process (Assures 2009).However, this sort of disposition can be automatic and reactionary. As opposed to being excessively pompous about printed loyalty, it is ideal to move toward film adjustments as re-translations of their source material (Hutchison 2006, p. 8) or as ‘a stage of content, an erudition (Scariest, refered to in Sanders 2006, p. 2). Also, new methods of creation further confuse existing meanings of, and ways to deal with, adjustment (Moore, MR. 2010, p. 180). The Church Of The Holy Cross Lutheran Church - 919 Words

On Saturday 7, 2015, Alex, Michael and I drove to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church located in 11515 Ashcake Road Ashland, Virginia (about a 5 minute drive away from campus). The first thing that caught my attention was the external structure of the church. The architecture of the church is old school and it looks like a wooden house. Inside the church we could immediately tell that there were at least two floors. The top floor was where the altar was located and where the congregation took place. As soon as we stepped into the top floor, a really nice lady approached us and told us to sign a book of guests that everyone that attends the service had to sign. After we signed in, the pastor approached us and we told him that we were attending the service for a research project and that we were students from Randolph Macon College, he seemed thrilled to be able to help us. The service itself was much laid back and relatively small. There were 25 people at the church on that Saturday, and t hey were all very friendly. The pastor was very enthusiastic and welcoming to us. At the beginning of the service, he introduced us to everyone in the church and he encouraged us to research as much as we wanted to. In my opinion, this service was very similar to a catholic worship, or similar to the service that I used to attend when I lived in Venezuela. There was a lot of sitting, reading, standing, and singing. As we learned in class and in Williams’s Religion in America, music is a veryShow MoreRelatedSite Visit Report : St. Paul Lutheran Church1361 Words   |  6 PagesKarina Cruz 580 Indian Trace - Weston, FL 33326 St. Paul Lutheran Church (954) 384-9096 Lutheran Hours of worship: Jean Gillis Sundays 8 A.M. 11 A.M. Essay on Animal Testing - 676 Words

Animal Testing In the 1880’s, Louis Pasteur conducted one of the most unpleasant series of animal experiments in the history of the fight against infectious disease. Unable to see the organism that causes rabies with the microscopes available, he convinced a skeptical medical community of the microorganism’s existence and also the possibility of vaccinating against it. He did this by doing work on rabbits and dogs. In 1885, after much heart searching, he tried out his rabies vaccine on a nine-year old boy, Joseph Meister, who had been bitten 14 times by a rabid dog. Thanks to Pasteur’s vaccine, the boy lived. It’s been too long. When I was a virgin, people still believed swans could impregnate girls. Nearby, Hugh waited patiently for me to overcome my reticence. He stuffed his hands into well-pressed khakis, leaning his large frame against his Lexus. â€Å"I don’t see what the big deal is. You do this all the time.† That wasn’t exactly true, but we both knew what he meant. Ignoring him, I instead made a great show of studying my surroundings, not that that improved my mood. The suburbs always dragged me down. Identical houses. Perfect lawns. Far too many SUVs. Somewhere in the night, a dog refused to stop yapping. â€Å"I don’t do this, † I said finally. â€Å"Even I have standards.† Hugh snorted, expressing his opinion of my standards. â€Å"Okay, if it makes you feel better, don’t think of this in terms of damnation. Think of it as a charity case.† â€Å"A charity case?† â€Å"Sure.† He pulled out his Pocket PC, looking briskly businesslike, despite the unorthodox setting. Not that I should have been surprised. Hugh was a professional imp, a master at getting mortals to sell their souls, an expert in contracts and legal loopholes that would have made any lawyer wince in envy. He was also my friend. It sort of gave new meaning to the With friends like these†¦ adage. â€Å"Listen to these stats,† he continued. â€Å"Martin Miller. Male, of course. Caucasian. Nonpracticing Lutheran. In reality, he was pushing a century. I set my purse on the ground and gave him a warning glance. â€Å"You owe me.† â€Å"I do,† he conceded. This wasn’t my usual gig, thank goodness. The imp normally â€Å"outsourced† this kind of thing but had run into some kind of scheduling problem tonight. I couldn’t imagine who he normally got to do this. I started toward the house, but he stopped me. â€Å"Georgina?† â€Å"Yeah?† â€Å"There’s†¦ one other thing†¦Ã¢â‚¬ I turned back around, not liking the tone in his voice. â€Å"Yes?† â€Å"He, um, sort of had a special request.† I raised an eyebrow and waited. â€Å"You see, uh, he’s really into the whole, like, evil thing. You know, figures if he sold his soul to the devil – so to speak – then he should lose his virginity to a, I don’t know, demoness or something.† I swear, even the dog stopped barking at that. â€Å"You’re joking.† Hugh didn’t respond. â€Å"I’m not a – no. No way am I going to – â€Å" â€Å"Come on, Georgina. It’s nothing. A flourish. Smoke and mirrors. Please? Just do this for me?† He turned wistful, cajoling. Hard to resist. Like I said, he was good at his job. â€Å"I’m really in a tight spot†¦ if you could help me out here†¦ it would mean so much†¦Ã¢â‚¬ I groaned, unable to refuse the pathetic look on his broad face. â€Å"If anyone finds out about this – â€Å" â€Å"My lips are sealed.† He actually had the audacity to make a sealing motion. Bending down, resigned, I unfastened the straps on my shoes. â€Å"What are you doing?† he asked. â€Å"These are my favorite Bruno Maglis. I don’t want them absorbed when I change.† â€Å"Yeah, but†¦ you can just shape-shift them back.† â€Å"They won’t be the same.† â€Å"They will. You can make them anything you want. This is just silly.† â€Å"Look,† I demanded, â€Å"do you want to stand out here arguing shoes, or do you want me to go make a man of your virgin?† Hugh clamped his mouth shut and gestured toward the house. I padded away in the grass, the blades tickling my bare feet. The back patio leading to the basement was open, just as Hugh had promised. I let myself into the sleeping house, hoping they didn’t have a dog, blearily wondering how I’d reached this low point in my existence. Adjusting to the darkness, my eyes soon discerned the features of a comfortable, middle-class family room: sofa, television, bookshelves. A stairwell rose to the left, and a hallway veered to the right. I turned down the hall, letting my appearance shape-shift as I walked. The sensation was so familiar, so second nature to me, that I didn’t even need to see my exterior to know what was happening. My petite frame grew taller, the slim build still staying slim but taking on a leaner, harder edge. My skin paled to death white, leaving no memory of its faint tan. The hair, already to my midback, stayed the same length but darkened to jet black, the fine waviness turning straight and coarse. My breasts – impressive by most standards – became larger still, rivaling those of the comic book heroines this guy had undoubtedly grown up with. As for my outfit†¦ well, away went the cute Banana Republic slacks and blouse. Thigh-high black leather boots appeared on my legs, paired with a matching halter top and a skirt I never could have bent over in. Spiky wings, horns, and a whip completed the package. â€Å"Oh Lord,† I muttered, accidentally taking in the whole effect in a small decorative mirror. I hoped none of the local demonesses ever found about this. They were really quite classy. Turning from the taunting mirror, I stared down the hall at my destination: a closed door with a yellow MEN AT WORK sign attached to it. You read "Succubus Blues CHAPTER 1" in category "Essay examples" I thought I could hear the faint sounds of a video game bleeping from beyond, though such noises silenced immediately when I knocked. A moment later, the door opened, and I stood facing a five-foot-eight guy with shoulder-length, dirty blond hair rapidly receding on top. A large, hairy belly peeped out from underneath his Homer Simpson T-shirt, and he held a bag of potato chips in one hand. The bag dropped to the floor when he saw me. â€Å"Martin Miller?† â€Å"Y-yes,† he gasped out. I cracked the whip. â€Å"You ready to play with me?† Exactly six minutes later, I left the Miller residence. Apparently thirty-four years doesn’t do much for one’s stamina. â€Å"Whoa, that was fast,† Hugh noted, seeing me walk across the front yard. He was leaning against the car again, smoking a cigarette. â€Å"No shit. Got another one of those?† He grinned and handed over his own cigarette, giving me a once-over. â€Å"Would you be offended if I said the wings kind of get me hot?† I took the cigarette, narrowing my eyes at him as I inhaled. A quick check ascertained no one else was around, and I shape-shifted back to my usual form. â€Å"You owe me big,† I reminded him, putting the shoes back on. â€Å"I know. Of course, some might argue you owe me. You got a nice fix from it. Better than you’re used to.† I couldn’t deny that, but I didn’t have to feel good about it either. Poor Martin. Geek or no, committing his soul to eternal damnation was a helluva price to pay for six minutes. â€Å"You wanna get a drink?† Hugh offered. â€Å"No, it’s too late. I’m going home. Got a book to read.† â€Å"Ah, of course. When’s the big day?† â€Å"Tomorrow,† I proclaimed. The imp chuckled at my hero worship. â€Å"He just writes mainstream fiction, you know. He’s hardly Nietzsche or Thoreau.† â€Å"Hey, one doesn’t have to be surreal or transcendental to be a great writer. I should know; I’ve seen a few over the years.† Hugh grunted at my imperious air, giving me a mock bow. â€Å"Far be it from me to argue with a lady about her age.† I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, then walked two blocks to where I had parked. I was unlocking the car door when I felt it: the warm, tingling feeling indicative of another immortal nearby. Vampire, I registered, only a millisecond before he appeared beside me. Damn, they moved fast. â€Å"Georgina, my belle, my sweet succubus, my goddess of delight,† he intoned, placing his hands over his heart dramatically. Great. Just what I needed. Duane was quite possibly the most obnoxious immortal I’d ever met. He kept his blond hair shaved to a close buzz, and as usual, he demonstrated terrible taste in both fashion and deodorant. â€Å"Go away, Duane. I have nothing to say to you.† â€Å"Oh come on,† he crooned, his hand snaking out to hold the door as I tried to open it. â€Å"Even you can’t play coy this time. Look at you. You’re positively glowing. Good hunting, eh?† I scowled at the reference to Martin’s life energy, knowing it must be wreathing me. Obstinately, I tried to pry my door open against Duane’s hold. No luck. â€Å"He’ll be out for days, from the looks of it,† the vampire added, peering at me closely. â€Å"Still, I imagine whoever he was enjoyed the ride – both on you and to hell.† He gave me a lazy smile, just barely revealing his pointed teeth. â€Å"He must have been someone pretty good for you to look as hot as you do now. What happened? I thought you only fucked the scum of the earth. The real assholes.† â€Å"Change of policy. I didn’t want to give you false hope.† He shook his head appreciatively. â€Å"Oh Georgina, you never disappoint – you and your witticisms. But then, I’ve always found whores know how to make good use of their mouths, on or off the job.† â€Å"Let go,† I snapped, tugging harder at the door. â€Å"Why the hurry? I have a right to know what you and the imp were doing over here. The Eastside is my turf.† â€Å"We don’t have to abide by your ‘turf rules, and you know it.† â€Å"Still, common courtesy dictates when you’re in the neighborhood – literally, in this case – you at least say hello. Besides, how come we never hang out? You owe me some quality time. You spend enough time with those other losers.† The losers he referred to were my friends and the only decent vampires I’d ever met. Most vampires – like Duane – were arrogant, devoid of social skills, and obsessed with territoriality. Not unlike a lot of mortal men I’d met. â€Å"If you don’t let me go, you’re going to learn a whole new definition of ‘common courtesy.'† Okay, it was a stupid, faux action-movie line, but it was the best I could come up with on the spot. I made my voice sound as menacing as possible, but it was pure bravado, and he knew it. Succubi were gifted with charisma and shape-shifting; vampires had super strength and speed. What this meant was that one of us mingled better at parties, and the other could break a man’s wrist with a handshake. â€Å"Are you actually threatening me?† He ran a playful hand along my cheek, making the hairs on my neck stand on end – in a bad way. I squirmed. â€Å"That’s adorable. And kind of arousing. I actually think I’d like to see you on the offensive. Maybe if you’d just behave like a good girl – ow !You little bitch!† With both of his hands occupied, I had seized my window of opportunity. A quick burst of shape-shifting, and sharp, three-inch claws appeared on my right hand. I swiped them across his cheek. His superior reflexes didn’t let me get very far with the gesture, but I did draw blood before he gripped my wrist and slammed it against the car. â€Å"What’s the matter? Not offensive enough for you?† I managed through my pain. More bad movie lines. â€Å"Cute, Georgina. Very cute. We’ll see how cute you are by the time I – â€Å" Headlights glimmered in the night as a car turned the corner on the next block and headed toward us. In that split second, I could see the indecision on Duane’s face. Our t §?e- §?t §?e would undoubtedly be noticed by the driver. While Duane could easily kill an intervening mortal – hell, it was what he did for a living – having the kill linked to his harassment of me would not look good to our superiors. Even an asshole like Duane would think twice before stirring up that kind of paperwork. â€Å"We aren’t finished,† he hissed, releasing my wrist. â€Å"Oh, I think we are.† I could feel braver now that salvation was on the way. â€Å"The next time you come near me’s going to be the last.† â€Å"I’m quaking in terror,† he simpered. His eyes gleamed once in the darkness, and then he was gone, moving off into the night just as the car drove past. Thank God for whatever liaison or ice cream run had pulled that driver out tonight. Not wasting any more time, I got into my car and drove off, anxious to be back in the city. I tried to ignore the shaking of my hands on the wheel, but the truth of the matter was, Duane terrified me. I had told him off plenty of times in the presence of my immortal friends, but taking him on alone on a dark street was an entirely different matter, especially since all my threats had been empty ones. I actually abhorred violence in all its forms. I suppose this came from living through periods of history fraught with levels of cruelty and brutality no one in the modern world could even comprehend. People like to say we live in violent times now, but they have no idea. Sure, there had been a certain satisfaction centuries ago in seeing a rapist castrated swiftly and promptly for his crimes, without endless courtroom drama or an early release for â€Å"good behavior.† Unfortunately, those who deal in revenge and vigilantism rarely know where to draw the line, so I’d take the bureaucracy of the modern judicial system any day. Thinking back to how I’d presumed the fortuitous driver was on an ice cream run, I decided a little dessert would do me some good too. Once I was safely back in Seattle, I stopped in a 24-hour grocery store, discovering some marketing mastermind had created tiramisu-flavored ice cream. Tiramisu and ice cream. The ingenuity of mortals never failed to amaze me. As I was about to pay, I passed a display of flowers. They were cheap and a little tattered, but I watched as a young man came in and nervously scanned them over. At last he selected some autumn-colored mums and carried them off. My eyes followed him wistfully, half-jealous of whatever girl would be getting those. As Duane had noted, I usually fed off losers, guys I didn’t have to feel guilty about hurting or rendering unconscious for a few days. Those kind did not send flowers and usually avoided most romantic gestures altogether. As for the guys who did send flowers, well, I avoided them. For their own good. That was out of character for a succubus, but I was too jaded to care about propriety anymore. Feeling sad and lonely, I picked up a bouquet of red carnations for myself and paid for it and the ice cream. When I arrived home, my phone was ringing. Setting down my goods, I glanced at the Caller-ID. Caller unknown. â€Å"My lord and master,† I answered. â€Å"What a perfect ending to a perfect night.† â€Å"Save your quips, Georgie. Why were you fucking with Duane?† â€Å"Jerome, I – what?† â€Å"He just called. Said you were unduly hassling him.† â€Å"Hassling? Him?† Outrage surged inside me. â€Å"He started it! He came up to me and – â€Å" â€Å"Did you hit him?† â€Å"I†¦Ã¢â‚¬ â€Å"Did you?† I sighed. Jerome was the archdemon of the greater Seattle hierarchy of evil, as well as my supervisor. It was his job to manage all of us, make sure we did our duties, and keep us in line. Like any lazy demon, however, he preferred we create as little work for him as possible. His annoyance was almost palpable through the phone line. â€Å"I did sort of hit him. Actually, it was more of a swipe.† â€Å"I see. A swipe. And did you threaten him too?† â€Å"Well, yes, I guess, if you want to argue semantics, but Jerome, come on! He’s a vampire. I can’t touch him. You know that.† The archdemon hesitated, apparently considering the outcome of me going head-to-head with Duane. I must have lost in the hypothetical battle because I heard Jerome exhale a moment later. â€Å"Yes. I suppose. But don’t provoke him anymore. I’ve got enough to work on right now without you children having catfights.† â€Å"Since when do you work?† Children indeed. â€Å"Good night, Georgie. Don’t tangle with Duane again.† The phone disconnected. Demons weren’t big on small talk. I hung up, feeling highly offended. I couldn’t believe Duane had tattled on me and then made me out to be the bad guy. Worse, Jerome seemed to have believed it. At least at first. That probably hurt me most of all because, my slacker-succubus habits aside, I’d always enjoyed a kind of indulgent, teacher’s pet role with the archdemon. Seeking consolation, I carried the ice cream off to my bedroom, shedding my clothes for a loose nightshirt. Aubrey, my cat, stood up from where she’d been sleeping at the foot of my bed and stretched. Solid white save for some black smudges on her forehead, she squinted green eyes at me in greeting. â€Å"I can’t go to bed,† I told her, stifling a yawn. â€Å"I have to read first.† I curled up with the pint and my book, recalling again how I’d finally be meeting my favorite author at the signing tomorrow. Seth Mortensen’s writing always spoke to me, awakening something inside I hadn’t even known was asleep. His current book, The Glasgow Pact, couldn’t ease the guilt I felt over what had happened with Martin, but it filled an aching emptiness in me nonetheless. I marveled that mortals, living so short a time, could create such wonderful things. â€Å"I never created anything when I was a mortal,† I told Aubrey when I’d finished five pages. She rubbed against me, purring sympathetically, and I had just enough presence of mind to put the ice cream away before collapsing back into bed and falling asleep. Contemporary Issues in Accounting Theory of BHP Billiton

Question: Discuss about the Accounting Theory and Contemporary Issues for BHP Billiton. Answer: Introduction BHP Billiton is an Australia based mining company which has a wide portfolio of global mining assets. The company aims to create constant value for its shareholders by enhancing the operating margins and ensuring efficiency with regards to utilization of assets. Iron ore, copper and coal are the major contributors to the income for BHP though it has presence in other minerals as well. The aim of the report is to analyze selective components of the balance sheet along with the concept of prudence along with the debate surrounding its usage. Prudence and resulting debate The concept of prudence is a relatively new addition to the accounting norms and still caught in debate with regards to underlying utility. This concept requires that the management deploys such policies that ensure that no revenue or asset is overstated while ensuring that any expense or liability must not be understated. These statements are essentially required in relation with some transactions and/or events that are not certain (IFRS, 2015). This concept was first introduced in the 1989 Framework as a desirable quality in the field of accounting and was placed alongside neutrality. However, this was removed by the IASB as the principle of prudence was incompatible with the very idea of neutrality and hence violated it to some extent. The Framework project continued and attempts were made by IASB and FASB not to reopen the issue of prudence. However, with intense lobbying from European Financial Reporting Advisory Group, the concept was introduced in 2015 in the exposure draft released by IASB. However, the concept introduced in 2015 was different from that in 2010 as it hailed cautious prudence rather than the earlier version of asymmetric prudence (Wagenhofer, 2015). Cautious prudence requires cautious estimate making by the management in order to ensure that the financial statements and disclosures so produced in the GPFR are free from biases and present accurate representation of the situation. The main argument in favor of introduction of prudence is to check over exuberance on the part of the management especially with regards to application of subjective judgements and estimates. This ensures that the shareholders are able to get the most accurate representation of the financial position (IFRS, 2015). However, the key criticism of this principle is that it deals with only one aspect i.e. not to exaggerate but does not cover the aspect where the management must not underestimate which is the core of neutrality. Also, due to application of prudence and caution, the comparability of financial results becomes difficult as in a particular year the results are normal while in the next year they may be abnormal (ACCA, 2014). Hence, cautious prudenc e is the way forward but with adequate consultation with the relevant stakeholders. Remuneration Report The determination of the variable component of pay of executives is the responsibility of the remuneration committee which ensures that it is closely linked with strategy. The executive remuneration is dependent on extended period movement of share as the rewards in equity terms are typically deferred and takes into cognizance the performance over five years. The base salary of the CEO is $ 1.7 million with the capping of STI (Short Term Incentives) and LTI (Long Term Incentives) at 240% and 400% of the base salary respectively. Hence, the policy seems to focus on long term returns and seems prudent (BHP Billiton, 2015). The relevant screenshot for the remuneration report is shown below. GPFR (General Purpose Financial Report) The GPFR will typically comprise of the following (Deegan, 2014). Income Statement Balance Sheet Cash Flow Statement Changes in Equity Statement Notes to the financial statements The preparation of the above components of GPFR has been done in accordance with the relevant IFRS standards with the mode being clarified by Note 41. There are some management judgments and accounting policies that have been used for the preparation of various GPFR statements (Horngren, 2013). PPE (Property, Plant and Equipment) The PPE has been recorded at cost minus deductions for accumulated depreciation. The total amount of PPE recorded in the balance sheet stands at $ 94,072 million and consists of equipment used in mining besides land and building. The depreciation is applied on the carrying value of PPE taking into cognizance the effective life of asset to eventually touch the residual value expected at the end of the effective life. In case of changes in effective life, the changes are incorporated annually along with their respective effect on the depreciation which is captured in the relevant GPFR. The appropriate depreciation method for host of PPE assets is the straight line method using the effective life of each asset (BHP Billiton, 2015). Also, at times there is a write down in the asset value that is required especially when the carrying value is higher than the net realizable value and is a prudent policy on the behalf of the company (Deegan, 2014). Accounts Receivable Besides representing accounts receivable, the company has given provisioning for doubtful debts to the tune of $ 115 million. By the end of the year, this balance fell to $ 6 million. In the year given, no incremental provision has been taken for any doubtful debt which indicates that the company is realistic in regards of bad debt reporting (BHP Billiton, 2015). Inventory The inventory has been valued considering the lower value of cost and realizable value. The average cost concept has been used for cost estimation while the used inventory cost has been computed by the usage of absorption costing method. The minerals inventory is predicted by deploying several reliable techniques (for example, Assay Survey). However, inventory estimation for petroleum requires more complex techniques as the earlier techniques are not suitable (BHP Billiton, 2015). Contingent Liabilities The contingent liabilities contain various liabilities associated on the back of the commitment and financial resources being extended to subsidiaries, joint ventures and associates. A key contributor to these liabilities is in the form of various legal cases arising on account of tax concerns or other disputes. The contingent liabilities attributed to issues related to tax in FY2015 are $ 1,313 million while commitments in the form of finance and operating leases amount to $ 438 million and $ 2,368 million respectively. The operating lease primarily relates to PPE (Property, Plant Equipment) leasing while finance lease deals with assets that are deployed for power generation and transmission at the mining site (BHP Billiton, 2015). Transfer Pricing The mining operations of the firm is stretched across nations and exposed to differential tax regimes that are existing across nations. Therefore, there is obligation on the company to pay various taxes in relation to profits, royalty etc. Information in this context can be obtained using note 43 and note 44 which bring into notice the pivotal accounting policies and underlying judgements and assumptions used in accounting. Further, using the report of the risk committee, knowledge may be obtained about the various liabilities related to royalty and tax given in Section 3.14 (BHP Billiton, 2015). Conclusion On the basis of the various arguments presents, it is fair to conclude that the financial position reported and performance represented seems fairly accurate as appropriate accounting policies and management judgement has been utilized. The company is in line with the relevant regulations concerning reporting that are in place. Additionally, it may be recommended that in the near future, the company on a voluntary basis should include broader framework such as GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) and Triple Bottom line reporting so as to represent the social and environmental costs associated with the mining business through the GPFR. Ludwig Van Beethoven Essays - Ludwig Van Beethoven,

Ludwig van Beethoven The rise of Ludwig van Beethoven into the ranks of history's greatest composers was paralleled by and in some ways a consequence of his own personal tragedy and despair. Beginning in the late 1790's, the increasing buzzing and humming in his ears sent Beethoven into a panic, searching for a cure from doctor to doctor. By October 1802 he had written the Heiligenstadt Testament confessing the certainty of his growing deafness, his consequent despair, and suicidal considerations. Yet, despite the personal tragedy caused by the "infirmity in the one sense which ought to be more perfect in [him] than in others, a sense which [he] once possessed in the highest perfection, a perfection such as few in [his] profession enjoy," it also served as a motivating force in that it challenged him to try and conquer the fate that was handed him. He would not surrender to that "jealous demon, my wretched health" before proving to himself and the world the extent of his skill. Thus, faced with such grea t impending loss, Beethoven, keeping faith in his art and ability, states in his Heiligenstadt Testament a promise of his greatness yet to be proven in the development of his heroic style. By about 1800, Beethoven was mastering the Viennese High- Classic style. Although the style had been first perfected by Mozart, Beethoven did extend it to some degree. He had unprecedently composed sonatas for the cello which in combination with the piano opened the era of the Classic- Romantic cello sonata. In addition, his sonatas for violin and piano became the cornerstone of the sonata duo repertory. His experimentation with additions to the standard forms likewise made it apparent that he had reached the limits of the high- Classic style. Having displayed the extended range of his piano writing he was also begining to forge a new voice for the violin. In 1800, Beethoven was additionally combining the sonata form with a full orchestra in his First Symphony, op. 2. In the arena of piano sonata, he had also gone beyond the three- movement design of Haydn and Mozart, applying sometimes the four-movement design reserved for symphonies and quartets through the addition of a minuet or scherzo. Having confidently proven the high-Classic phase of his sonata development with the "Grande Sonate," op. 22, Beethoven moved on to the fantasy sonata to allow himself freer expression. By 1802, he had evidently succeeded in mastering the high-Classic style within each of its major instrumental genres -- the piano trio, string trio, string quartet and quintet, Classic piano concerto, duo sonata, piano sonata, and symphony. Having reached the end of the great Vienese tradition, he was then faced with either the unchallenging repetion of the tired style or going beyond it to new creations. At about the same time that Beethoven had exhausted the potentials of the high-Classic style, his increasing deafness landed him in a major cycle of depression, from which was to emerge his heroic period as exemplified in Symphony No. 3, op. 55 ("Eroica"). In Beethoven's Heiligenstadt Testament of October 1802, he reveals his malaise that was sending him to the edge of despair. He speaks of suicide in the same breath as a reluctance to die, expressing his helplessness against the inevitability of death. Having searched vainly for a cure, he seems to have lost all hope -- "As the leaves of autumn fall and are withered-so likewise has my hope been blighted-I leave here- almost as I came-even the high courage-which often inspired me in the beautiful days of summer-has disappeared." There is somewhat of a parallel between his personal and professional life. He is at a dead end on both cases. There seems to be no more that he can do with the high-Classic style; his deafness seems poised i nevitably to encumber and ultimately halt his musical career. However, despite it all, he reveals in the Testament a determination, though weak and exhausted, to carry on -- "I would have ended my life-it was only my art that held me back. Ah, it seemed to me impossible to leave the world until I had brough forth all that I felt was within me. So I endured this wretched

Robotics Essays Robotics Essay Robotics Essay The Shadow robot hand system Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, development and application of robots [1] and computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing. These technologies deal with automated machines that can take the place of humans, in dangerous or manufacturing processes, or simply just resemble humans. Many of todays robots are inspired by nature contributing to the field of bio-inspired robotics. The concept in creation of machines that could operate autonomously dates back to classical times, but research into the functionality and potential uses of robots did not grow substantially until the 20th century. [2] Throughout history, robotics has been often seen to mimic human behavior, and often manage tasks in a similar fashion. Today, robotics is a rapidly growing field, as technological advances continue, research, design, and building new robots serve various practical purposes, whether domestically, commercially, or militarily. Many robots do jobs that are hazardous to people such as defusing bombs, exploring shipwrecks, and mines. Contents [hide] * 1 Etymology * 2 Components * 2. Finally, summarize In your own words how science, technology, and mathematics work together In order to accomplish real- world objectives. The use the mathematic technique angle allowed me to adjust how far the robot goes and how much it turns. Science helps us keep our food sustainable ND protected from pests. It allows for the mass production of items such as clothing, electronics, and food. Our water can be reused thanks to science. We can mass produce medicinal drugs a lot easier. Technology allows us to communicate and store food and cook food easier. Mathematics helps us when finding the percentage on a discount or anything that requires calculation. Science, technology and mathematics create careers such as engineering, doctors and dentists. Topic experience and Insight(100-150 words) Discuss one specific experience you had while working on the robotics activities that eloped you to understand something important about math, science, technology, engineering, communication, teamwork, or any other area you believe Is relevant. What did you learn? How might this knowledge help you to deal with new challenges in the future? One specific experience that I dealt with was being calm with my robot and the need for communication when doing group/pair work. I got extremely aggravated each time the robot did not work the way I wanted it to. Once I became calm and saw the problem, my partner and I communicated and solved it quickly and we achieved success.

Journals - Essay Example during the World economic Outlook (WEO), the IMF, however, noted that the growth would be quite sluggish and it would not be able do much to prevent further unemployment across the globe. It also added a word of caution about credit crunches and lesser demands during the recovery period. A much better growth is forecast primarily for 2010 with an expansion of about 3.1%. The IMF forecast for Britain is a weaker growth in the remaining of 2009 and a 0.9% rate for 2010, three times more than the previously expected rate of 0.2%. Europe, North America and Japan are expected to show a moderate growth of 1.3% next year, while the largest growth rate has been predicted for China and India at 9% and 6.4% respectively. Thus Asia is been predicted to lead the economical growth from the front during 2010. However, unemployment is expected to remain on a high in most developing countries even next year especially in the US, Germany, France and Italy. The WEO has attributed this resurgence to strong public policies that have been initiated by many world economies together with the large cuts in interest rates by Central Banks. The IMF also warned against complacency as it would not do any good to improve the situation further. The current recovery has been attributed mainly to increased public spending and inventory adjustments and the IMF adds that a sustained recovery will require careful balancing of private and public demands and also between countries with large current accounts and those showing current account deficits. The article stresses that there will be a sure recovery and there will not any global economic meltdown as previously forecasted and adds that this road to recovery will have its own share of hurdles and only a proper balancing act between surplus and deficit economic countries will help to achieve complete recovery. There is also no forecast of an immediate improvement in unemployment rates due to the sluggish growth to recovery. A complacent

Comprehension - Assignment Example percent of the 25 learners should be able to utilize the guided reading strategies employed in the lesson to enhance their skills of reading comprehension by correctly reading atleast 15 of the 20 difficult words used in the literature. The class has 25 learners, 5 of who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The special case students are content in the classroom but can hardly concentrate for long during a comprehension lesson. Therefore, an assistant teacher will be ready to lend a hand by ensuring that the 5 students remain alert during the lesson, but if they can’t concentrate at all, they will be handled through an Individualized Education Plan. To really understand the importance of compassion, students will read a literature that advances the cause. A real life story about compassion titled â€Å"Nothing is more important than teaching compassion,† available on http://www.guardian.co.uk/teacher-network/teacher-blog/2012/apr/13/teaching-mindfullness-school-children>, will be read during the lesson â€Å"Good morning class! Today we are going to learn how we can enhance our comprehensive knowledge. Does anyone understand the term comprehension?† The teacher will get the responses of about 6 students in the class. S/he will then write the word on the board and define it. â€Å"Comprehension refers to understanding and explaining a particular word, sentence or story to another person.† The teacher will ask the students about their perceptions of comprehension. Through guided reading the teacher will lead the class in reading a poem (Montelongo, Herter, Ansaldo, &  Hatter, 2010). â€Å"What did you understand about the poem?† The teacher will elaborate the poem and emphasize to the students on the importance of comprehension. â€Å"Now we want to read the scripture verses.† The reading will be done during the siscussion. Therefore, every organization must comprehend the culturally diverse. That means to communicate with other people from different background. The success key of various business firms is to be effective cross cultural communication. Therefore, this is imperative for any firms to perceive the culturally diverse in their working place. However there are many barriers to effective communication. Misunderstanding There is no doubt that misunderstanding is the preeminent barrier in business environment. People have vary in culture and language. As a result variations in different culture can conduct the high level of anxiety and uncertainty can end up into the misunderstanding. Therefore misunderstand raise due to anxiety and uncertainty. Value and beliefs Every person have different values and beliefs. Today era, every person believes depends on his region, culture and language. If organization firms do not understand their employees values and beliefs result must have barriers in cross communication at workplace.   In order to make communication channel effectively and efficiently, an organisation should be known the importance of values and beliefs to other cultures person. Languages Sometimes it seems common when misunderstanding create among people who speak same language. Therefore, it is not astounding that people who belong to the other region, culture and linguistic backgrounds can lead misunderstanding. Moreover, mispronunciation of a word to a lack of specificity can face communications barriers.   When people speak language intangibly in any organisation, receivers will take huge time to comprehend. Stereotypes- Stereotypes is extremely considerable barrier to effective communication. It is an assumptions when person make about others person based on their culture, race, gender, nationality, ethnicity. Basically stereotypes are raise due to lack of knowledge and fear about other person. Stereotypes occurs when a person does not communicate well due to feeling self-conscious or shy of his perceived minority and culture. For Example The common issues is Black and white in USA. Ethnocentrism- Generally it categorized the culture as us and them. The person who belong to same culture are classify in a group and other culture out of group. It always give the priority to in group. There is a misunderstanding that other culture out of group as junior or inferior. Therefore it judge the another persons culture based upon the standards and values. For instance a business owner may be exclaim to his foreigner client and might call him moron due to his different race, gender, culture and nationality. Presentation Style- Sometimes, it depends on culture influences, how people from different countries prefer to receive the information. For instance prepare your presentation according to the culture to which you present. Mostly, European opt their presentation like formal, highlighted with details and minor interruption, Moreover discussion at the end of the presentation.   Cultures like English speaking their presentation are interesting and interactive. In general Japaneses prefer more technical background presentation. Therefore, you cant rely upon your personal framework or presentation. Whenever you addressing the audiences for different background, work according to them or their culture. Overcoming Communication Barriers. Notwithstanding, we have pile of barriers. In order to avoid these barriers and make clear cross commination channel in various effective way. Cross Culture awareness. We need to have enhance the awareness of about different culture. To comprehend the foreign culture differences, values, custom and beliefs. After that, we will be able to perceive other cultures and overcoming barriers. Knowledge of international Language. We can enlarge our skills, in addition to learn international language. I personally, believe that culture and language is correlated with each other. For instance my friend form India, he has further plan to do higher studies form Germany. Therefore he is taking the classes for Germanys culture and language. As a result, no problem will be created for him to communicate with Germans people. Moreover the extra learning will allow to him, how to give respect to other cultures and language. Before communication, Clarifying Idea- It must be very clear that if you are sending the information to other background people in business. Your objective and purpose of the communication must be well known what you passing the information to the others and arranging whole the information in effective manner. Until and unless, youre main idea is not clear behind the whole conversation. The whole information will get into trouble Be a Good listener- It has duties for both like sender and receiver that must be a good listener. Sender and receiver, both should have patience, pay attention what they say to each other. Hereby be a good listener can prevent the barriers of cross communication. Avoid traditional thinking Though, you want you improve your thinking abilities you must condone traditional thinking. To allow yourself to get extra knowledge about various way of thinking and comprehend differences. Be a polite and straight forward in communication. This obstacles can avoid the misunderstanding in cross communication. At sum-up, Ill must say, deeper knowledge of any culture should be mandatory for everyone. Not only in business sector but also in personal life. Because if you are planning to move in other foreign country, it will help to earn extra bonus with you career. Try to learn, understand other culture no matter what person is or from where they belong. Express your word, message or information clearly in a polite way. Dont be rude with other cultures people and try to show you willingness that we want to know or understand about your culture. Hereby this willing, deeper knowledge can help us to negative impact on cross communication. Identify at least two theories of cross culture communication that can shed light on your own experiences of communicating across cultures. What do these theory explain?   What do they explain to fail? First theory of cross culture communication. Introduction Primarily I will discuss about Face negotiation theory which is formulated by S. Ting Toomey, professor of human communication at California state university. The theory described about to maintain a face in the society can be part of differences in handling conflicts. How culture differences in people influences to managing the conflicts. Culture differences respond to the conflicts in the society. Generally, it is an idea to maintain a face according to every individual culture. Because face is an identity that every individual keep up in the society as a self-image. Face represents as himself/herself in the society. Two types of people is there, first is Collectivistic and second is individualistic. There are few reason of Face negotiation. 1. Anxiety over self-image and other -image. The value of face for person is necessary to understand and how can be important to maintain a face which reflects to the others. 2. Those who belong to the collectivistic culture, generally they ignore and connect to the conflicts. On the other hand individualistic people, they dominant the conflicts as to maintain the independent image in the society. 3. Every individual has statues in the society. Collectivistic people are born into certain statues whereas individualistic people are less concerned. There are 5 type of conflicts styles. Domination Indivualistic people approach never bow down. Integrating work together and try to reach the solution, standpoint by individual people. Obliging- Collectivistic people approach giving up and do what other says. Avoiding- A collectivistic view, stay away from conflicts. Compromising to come to a solution as individualistic view. Examples for Face Negotiation theory According to S. Toomey, people face a conflict situations has different form indiualstic people and collectivistic people. Western people are individualistic in nature. On the other hand collectivistic in nature. Individualistic people try to solve in trouble situation and never bow down. Whereas collectivistic people try to avoid the trouble situation and keep away themselves. Different culture have different meaning for instance. A good eye contact as a good gesture of attention and respect in western countries. However in eastern or Asian countries, they take it as rudeness. Moreover, some what I am against this theory that according to S. Toomey words. Individualistic culture (Western people), never give and Collectivistic culture (Eastern Asian), compromise with the words. Drawbacks of face negotiating theory. Indivualisitic culture belongs to the the western countries, while eastern countries have collectivistic culture. In spite of culture difference doesnt explain properly the person behaviour. Many people form Eastern or Asian countries living in western countries as permanent residence. Sometimes they follow the same culture like individualistic culture or collective culture vice-versa. Due to globalization, the theory was less applicable For further search of theory. She found that collectivist culture can also be self-protective like Japaneses people. The theory was updated many times. The latest up gradation was in 2005 I admit, some what I am against this theory that according to S. Toomey words. Individualistic culture (Western people), never give and Collectivistic culture (Eastern Asian), compromise with the words. As an international student I am in Canada, I was making plan to come in Canada 2013. Due to financial issues I was not able. After completion my graduation. I joined company. I gathered my self-earning. In 2016 I applied and came here. What I have learnt to my situation that never bow down to any conflicts. As I belong to Asian countries. According to S. Toomey theory collectivistic culture people like to stay away to trouble situation. One More example, I have that I met two one person in Canada , one is from South Africa and other, he is from Surrey, BC, Canada. Both they are following SIKH religion. Therefore, it doesnt matter from where you are and sometimes culture differences dont explain properly about your personal behaviour. 2nd Theory The second theory I will discuss about culture diversity. Generally, we knows globalization is increasing more and more, here upon it requires more interaction with people from values, believes, background, language, culture diverse. Nowadays we are the part of every country economic. Therefore every company require diversity to exchange more ideas, innovation and become more creative.   The basic concept of these theory explain about two phases of effect. It has positive and negative impact on team output. The positive impact bring culture diversity and reflect on probable productivity. It brings different culture together to create a peace and brotherhood. Somewhat members of other groups share their beliefs, festive and culture expression. For Example. On Chinese and Indian Festival Occasion, Canadian university organize their festive like Chineses New Year, Diwali and Holy and so on. As a result they exchange their culture experience with each other. In contrast It has negative impact, so far as it brings complexity between each other culture and not easy to manage. Culture diversity can be double edge sword, if we will not managed on workplace. It is undoubted that Drawbacks of Culture Diversity. The first drawback of the theory is attitudinal problem which are dislike and mistrust. We cant ignore theses two issues even in cross communication. Because every society has own identity and culture. Sometimes we first meet with any other culture they express themselves own their culture way. For example. When person from western culture meet and greet to other person, they will kiss check. In Middle East countries People greet you to say, SALAAM. Every society has own culture style for greeting. Therefore some time we dont used to with these style. It feels like you strange. But some people dislike this way which is totally different from their culture. The second disadvantages of culture diversity theory is pronunciation problem. It includes misunderstanding, inefficiency and inaccuracy. For Example many people dont familiar with other cultures language. Sometime they dont understand, what other people say. For example as an international student I am here in Canada. I am not familiar with few English words or sometime I cant pronounce some words properly. I am working in gas station as part time. Once day customer came and demanding for one product MM peanut and I didnt get his words and thinking he wants Eminem peanut. Personally I realized my pronunciation was not good to comprehend the word MM. this issues can be common. This kind of issues can be create misunderstanding and misconception between two people from different background. What are the implications of your insights for cross-cultural communication in international? Personally I believe, cross communication is very important not only in business organization but also in personal life. It play a significant role to create a smooth bridge and link between the countries. Cross communication brings new ideas, creativity, exchanging, cooperation and innovation. Various strategies or ideas will make every firm more and more creative, productive. Moreover In a company has different employee from different culture. Different employee can be authorised for specific work. Person can be assigned to solve those problem which is related to his or her culture background. As a result business will run smoothly and effectively. Besides every organisation enhancing their business outside the home countries like Vodafone, Tata, Reliance, and Nokia and so on. To order to maintain or make successful business. Every company must to comprehend how to operate business in international level in effective way. For example Ernest and Young an Audit firm it has so many branches across the world. It hire different employee form different background. Nevertheless, cross culture communication in an organisation is not easy to handle. It could be obstacles for any business in international market First barriers is Language and second is various thinking pattern.   Sometime it become harder to manage, when people from different culture society and working together. Every person has own view and thoughts. An organisation should considering some ways to manage cross communication. First to set up the aims that every employee should make efforts to achieve it. That means everyone from different background has same goals and rewards. Therefore no conflicts of cross communication will come up. Second, every organisation start to give different language training that everyone will allow to go to international market for dealing and developing new markets with other cultures people to maintain a cross communication. To Sum up, although many research has been done to overcome the barriers of cross communication, How to resolve the problem of cross communication. Because a cross communication channel is a reflection to change world. Cross culture communication has enormous benefits and associated by creating impartial and secure atmosphere where everyone has equal prejudice to access the same opportunities and challenges. Cross Communication can be assets or liabilities for us what we opt. It is depend on us. In my opinion, try to learn and consider to other background people to make it effective and relationship.

Being Eleven :: English Literature Essays

Being Eleven Yep! If you are reading this you’ve probably already conquered the tumultuous eleventh year of your life. However, if you are ancient you have probably forgotten all about being eleven, so here are the advantages and disadvantages. First of all, there are many advantages of being eleven. For instance my parents trust me more. My parents let me stay home alone instead of having a babysitter. They also let me go to movies without them leading me by the hand. My parents don’t act so paranoid about me staying in the yard to play. My next positive thing about being eleven is I can go more places with my friends. For example, I don't have to go to the family skate, I can go to the friday night skate with my friends. My parents can drop us off at the front of the movie theater and we can pick what movie to watch. I can also go to the mall with a group of my friends. My third positive reason is I can choose more sports or activities. For instance, I can play tackle football instead of touch or flag football. I have the choice to play girls basketball or softball. I can also go to the school dances. My final advantage is I have more privileges. I can enter better web sites such as www.bonus.com. I can have my own e-mail address instead of writing mail by hand. My parents let me stay on the phone longer. I can stay on for about an hour instead of thirty minutes. On the other hand, there are several disadvantages of being eleven. For example, I have more chores around the house. When I come home, I always have to do the dishes instead of playing. I also have to do the laundry at night on weekdays and weekends. I have to mow the lawn every time it grows. My next example is I have harsher punishments. When I get in trouble I am either grounded for a week or even two. I also have to do all the chores when I am grounded. Another thing is I can’t go outside, play on the play station or watch television. As another example, I don't get to vote. When election time comes I can’t have a say in who I want to run my country. Being Eleven :: English Literature Essays Being Eleven Yep! Is Being Fashionable a Sin?

â€Å"Don't Judge a book from it's cover† is a great phrase, but we do actually Judge appearance first before getting to know people. That first impression helps anywhere, and good knowledge of fashion, and being well groomed really helps. I think it was Marilyn Monroe that said, â€Å"Clothing should be tight enough to show you are a woman, but loose enough to show you are a lady†. Words to live by!! I want to tell them that being modest does NOT mean covering yourself in a shapeless denim bag of a dress that hides any last speck of femininity! It is possible to be beautiful, stylish, and modest. A move toward beautiful clothes that are modest and actually make the person look good is always needed in the fashion world. Remaining fashionable is also a status war in itself, because you can only attain the status at which you can personally afford. I find concept of something being â€Å"fashionable† quite puzzling. Why many people feel obliged to wear â€Å"fashi onable clothes†? They don't wear it because of aesthetic value – or do they?If something was fashionable last season and now it is not, does it mean that the aesthetic Judgment changed or do people recognize value in conforming to the majority? The answer is simpler than you think. â€Å"Fashion† is the effect, not the cause. Combine two separate concepts: First, that pleasure resulting from a certain aesthetic fades over time. So yes to your first question, it is the aesthetic value that changes. You can only eat ice cream so long until you get tired of eating it, even though nothing changed about the ice cream.Similarly, people get tired of seeing the same kind of clothes being worn all the time. There is a certain pleasure in novelty. Second, fashion has a social value, as well as an individual one. Socially, what people ear is a significant part of our environment, so it's more pleasing to see people well- dressed. Individually, to wear clothes that other peo ple find pleasing arouses our vanity, so we have a personal interest in pleasing our society. â€Å"Fashion† refers to this careful equilibrium between social pleasure and individual vanity. It's more of a sign claiming â€Å"I'm up to date† than any aesthetics, but being up to date is very valued by many people, even if it is about something as irrelevant as clothing and even if being up to date about irrelevant things implies an opportunity cost and earns lost opportunities to be up to date about relevant things. Subconscious thoughts are not characterized for being very deep. TOPIC: People nowadays are paying a lot of attention to fashion. Do you think this is a good thing? As a kind of art, fashion has its own values and benefits for people such as making them more beautiful.Nowadays, people are paying a lot of attention to fashion and I think this is a very good thing because of the following reasons. First, fashion makes people become more attractive. On the roads , a girl dressing in fashionable clothes always attracts more attention of people than one in outdated outfit. This is because as human beings, we all want something that is new and appealing rather than boring. And fashion, in this case, contributes a lot to the beauty of people. It makes them more pretty in apparels that are updated to the popular trends, which a number of people are interested in.Secondly, fashion indirectly builds up a healthy lifestyle. People who love fashion always want to be in the most up-to-date dress. However, these clothes are Just suitable for certain body shape, which is usually a thin one. Therefore, fashion and he love for it are encouraging more and more people to follow a healthful diet, to do exercise and to work out in order to have perfect bodies that are fitted in the clothes they like. Last but not least, fashion makes our world an interesting place to live in. If fashion did not exist, the world might be a dull place where all people wore the same things with the same color. We could never see attractive girls in fashionable clothes on the roads or youthful boy in hip hop costumes. Moreover, no fashion meaner no traditional costume, which is a unique part that differentiates each culture. Therefore, with cushion, people can enjoy a colorful world where everyone looks beautiful and attractive in their own fashion style. In short, I believe that the special attention of people to fashion is reasonable and needed to be encouraged. It is because fashion contributes a lot to better people's appearance, to create a healthy lifestyle and a colorful world.Fashion is a sword TTT can heal or destroy. Ultimately in today's age, Fashion Just destroys people's lives. Fashion as healing: As an art, fashion can bring healing and meaning to people's lives especially ones who are gifted in designing and have passion for it. As destructive. Too many to describe. Fashion sprung out from man's perversity to want to dress to impress. To dres s to look good so that who benefits? They benefit and feel better about themselves. Look presentable is the goal for most organizations but that has just set a mindset especially in work cultures where dressing good matters. It does really create stratifications and psychological stress on people to dress a certain way if not be ready to meet the Judgment or isolation in some cases. What do these benefit a person when they reflect back upon the impact of fashion in society? Not forgetting what many people above have indicated on fashion's influence on self esteem and other matters. Fashion like science gives people a reason to have a Job and to feel good about it but it may actually be one of the reasons why people began to sin and erode the societal norms and family unities.Fashion makes people liberal in whatever they want such that they don't have to care anymore bat people around. Making a statement is bold but a great way to make oneself unique and humans crave that because they need to stand out and make a marquee in the community. They want to feel significant and stand out from the crowd. I'm saying good that you stand out but if the assumptive effect of fashion leads to the detrimental destruction on human unity and communion, then fashion shall be no more than a subtle piece of timber waiting to explode in someone's lives in some form of cheat or sick way.It really matters how you dress but many people's lives have been testimonies of the human need to find acceptance and prominence in some way and fashion is really not a good way. Predictability is a fine line between looking good and attention seeking. Conclusion; Fashion destroys pulp's lives very subtly and slowly if no appropriate boundaries are observed. Any since no one can restrict anyone from wearing anything, the trend is that fashion is one factor that harms our society and its a fact that no one can refute.Fashion here refers to the general consensus that dressing encompasses in our curren t day where we dress to show rather than to be presentable. That is the case TTT MAJORITY of brands try to proliferate. Sex sells is the message of the day. Just look at most of the biggest companies and you can be sure TTT is one of their drives in the company. Inner beauty not outer fashion ‘For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone,' is a famous quote by Audrey Hepburn. Thus it is about the inner beauty not the outer fashion. Lol, thank you can't think of anything else Self Respect has officially disappeared Women nowadays no longer dress to impress instead they dress to expose. Even though as women we may think that if we dress in a particular way, it would attract a guy we need to remember that if we respect who we are and how we portray ourselves, men will see this and respect us as well. Children as young as 12 are beginning to dress in clothes with a lot of exposure which is a sign that they are growing up.Children need to be children when they have the time and discovering and understanding grown up stuff should be left for their futures ahead. Makes people feel inadequate. Fashion is greedy and kills individuality. We are told that if you wear this or wear that, men will want you, etc. It is a load of rubbish. You can't Just wear what you want because that isn't ‘in' for that year, or month, or even week. Fashion churns out lines from every high street store in the country. Style and creativity (great things) should not be synonymous with fashion This organized fashion world however is something else.A grotesque facet of humanity and offshoot of capitalism, it commodities and homogeneous almost everything on this planet. Ultimately, in order to reproduce the same shallow, greedy hierarchy behind the the finished/contrived products mediated and presented to us. It DOES damage the planet. It DOES kill animals. It DOES caus e eating disorders. It DOES cause low self esteem. It fuels competitiveness and ignorance, and an irresponsible denial of reality. It causes us to ignore who we really are, who other people really are and values and issues which can't be turned into something sexy and desirable. It causes us to overlook the wonderful non-airbrushed world we already live in, and it also causes us to refuse to acknowledge and solve the problems that are there in it. It causes us to rule out knowing entire groups of people, adopting entire ways of thinking. It also – despite its self-proclaimed image of not doing so – continues racism and tethering. For several years I fell into the fashion trap set for all people. Lured in by the glossiness, the perfection, the sex, glamour, the manipulative language and presentation.I looked at the world through fashion's demeaning gaze and missed out on so much and hurt many people. I hurt my savings! I hurt my development! I wasted time. I hurt myself in developing an eating disorder and not embracing the absolutely wonderful person I already was. I also hurt people close to me, acquaintances, with the inherent Judgment fashion instills. I hurt people all around the world by paying attention to fashion, as fashion is a system relying on the people outside/at the bottom.I also no doubt perpetuated the harsh living standards for those at the bottom of the fashion industry making these clothes. And I damaged the planet. I don't believe that the meaner meet the ends whatsoever and if fashion was really that great it wouldn't need the billions and billions spent on constant PR & advertising. I think our society is seriously lacking in education/seriously over indoctrinated by the media now if a several million dollar ad which taps into your biological/instinctive yearnings to sell you an unrelated and inanimate object is seen s totally normal and an art form.I would also bring into question fashion houses funding of things which maint ain the hierarchy and the concept of ‘cool' and commodities ‘e. Galleries, shows, films, celebrities, buildings and why Italian fashion houses donate millions to the maintenance of crumbling Italian buildings which fuel the rest of the worlds perception of beautiful Italy etc etc I know there are other issues in play. I wrote this very quickly and it may seem reductive but I'm positive my argument is stronger than those trying to reassure themselves fashion is a necessary art form.It deviates youngsters from studies Youngsters who pay more attention to fashion are less attentive to their studies and when it comes to devoting time to their academic career, they seem to be less concerned. This very attitude and the role of fashion Magazines is harming the very basics of the student community and they start feeling that their life would reach a certain height if they involve their selves in the fashion activities. It is making people's minds more dependent on material thing s. It puts this image in your head that its all about how you look and what to wear and tepidity such as that.People are too dependent on what factories and what the government and what industries provide for them, when you can benefit you and your mind set by buying clothes that are for needs, not 50 million shirts to wear because you NEED every dang color. I understand that fashion is a way that people can express themselves, but when you take it too far and make it something you cannot live without, it shows true weakness in you AND society as a whole. Fashion rules the world. How many people do you know that don't care about the way they dress?I could count mine on one hand. People spend money they don't even have on clothes they will only wear once or twice at the most. When you spend money you don't have, your creating a problem for yourself, and others. Once you go broke, you start to have to get help from the government. The government gets it's money from the taxes and stuf f from the people who choose to spend their money the right way. Is it fair either? Fashion is harmful to society It makes you feel not K each season. So in an effort to feel K you pressure yourself to buy. It's not about creating peace or Joy in one's, but rather reinforcing you're not k unless you wear this designer or can afford this fashion. It's a waste of human resources. Displays the â€Å"perfect† image to viewers This causes them to believe in that image and strive to achieve it in order to feed their need to look beautiful. They try to follow the way that they are shown in the fashion industry which will help them to be accepted and look like the perfect beautiful woman so that they can match the society's requirements on beauty.Fashion depresses peoples freedom to be an individual Everyone here seems to be talking about clothes, but following fashion is in my mind, owing something that everyone is supposedly doing at the moment whether it be types of clothes, cars, behavior. Basically copying others Just to fit in or gain supposed social recognition. This can be harmful to a persons individuality, self esteem and general happiness if taken so far to stop people feeling they can freely be themselves. They have to follow the fashion no matter what the cost or think it's k to treat people who don't follow suit as outcasts.People are too bind to realize what fashion can do to person. I know this from experience and have watched people surfer. Fashion is killing naggers and some adults. Fashion is a waste of time. What happened to people expressing themselves? There are too many people wrapped up in what's in or getting the next best thing. Also, the so-called fashion of â€Å"hot bodies†; what the hell is up with that? I watched a friend who is so called â€Å"fat and ugly† struggle with being in style and having a body people want to see. She starved herself and made herself throw up Just to fit in.Honestly, I used to be wrapped up in fashion, but my mom made me realize that I don't need the newest things out there. I don't need make up as I used to think. My mom showed me how to express myself through everything I do. I thank her for that! I may be only 16 but I know what it used to be like. I don't care about fashion because being â€Å"in† is showing how low people can be and labeling them as trash, ugly, poor and worse. Fashion is harmful to a society and there is so much more around us. The sad thing is that most of the world is too blind to see it.People think fashion is so important because they always want to look good. Why do people always think fashion is so important? Well that is my question to you! Why is it so important? Why do you have to ooh good for people to like you? Some people in this world think that life is all about fashion! Well its not! Soot all you losers out there who think fashion is the best things in life.. Well stop thinking that. If you don't stop thinking that then you will grow up to have no friends and will have the worst life ever. So I came here to say fashion is not everything in life and it is harmful to some girls. If girls think that they will be liked if they look good then they will grow up to be lonely and have no friends. So if your one of those people think about al the other important things in life before you go to a party or get dressed up. Young girls are trying to emulate celebrities/models and can't differentiate the celebrity's â€Å"public persona† wardrobe from their everyday â€Å"at-home† wardrobe. Young girls look to celebrities and/or models when trying to figure out fashion. They see what is dished out to them from the media or from in-person events. They don't understand that much of what celebrities wear is worn specifically for the publicity. Some even for shock value Just to get into the forefront of the public eye. They see models with unrealistic body shapes and think that to be beautiful and successful they too have to be unhealthily thin. They don't know how many models are throwing up the only calories their bodies receive on a daily basis. They don't understand that celebrities that are dressing in body-hugging clothes and see-through tops are purposefully dressing that way because sex sells.Girls are so obsessed with being popular and accepted that they are trying to bypass being a girl and instead are trying to rush into being a woman. They aren't even getting the chance to figure out for themselves the stupidity of celebrities who spend a good sum of money walking in 9†³ stilettos or shoes without heels all for the sake of publicity. It is obvious that the celebrity is Just hiding behind the same insecurity that the little girls have about being accepted and loved for who they are. For the record, people with real talent do not need to hide behind the facade of fashion absurdity. At schools, girls have started to rank themselves with fashion. Girls have started to decid ed who's who by what they wear, and if one doesn't have enough money to buy a certain piece of clothing, then see it being worn around schools, than their self-esteems can be lowered to a certain degree, and can be seen as a target to bullies, making the situation worse. I feel that fashion is harmful to society, because it promotes a culture that is based solely on appearance. The fashion industry encourages an unrealistic outlook for men and women in regards to their bodies and their looks.Women and men have gone to great extremes to mold their bodies into what the fashion world has decided is â€Å"perfect†, often disregarding their health and well-being, Just to look like the air-brushed, rail-thin models that the industry has deemed beautiful. Fashion is definitely harmful to society, because it inspires people to make potentially harmful lifestyle choices. Societal problems, such as anorexia and teen violence, are exemplary as to why fashion can actually be harmful. The media pushes the idea of beauty, as it is associated with apparently emaciated super models and punks wearing baggy pants and chains. Our children try to emulate what they are seeing on television. Some restrict their eating to the point that their health suffers, and others steal and even resort to violence to obtain clothes that look like those their television heroes wear. Fashion contributes to excluding certain individuals from society by labeling them as different. Fashion meaner being able to express oneself, but when an individual does not have access to fashionable clothes for financial reasons or cultural ones, this individual is generally excluded from society.Fashion contributes in directing our attention towards appearances, and it impacts in a negative way what people think of each other. It harms the environment, it promotes low paid work, an unhealthy self-image and futility and contributes to the increase of consumerism. Most clothes are made with processes that pol lute the atmosphere and water sources, produce CO and other harmful gas, and a lot of waste. Most of the clothes are made y people who are paid around 12 cents a day and work in very poor conditions. The fashion industry employs models who are too thin and present their bodies as desirable and normal – how your body should be.And because the magazines, ads and whatnot make the clothes – and the whole industry – look so glamorous, people then feel tempted to buy more and more. This way, our society is becoming more image-centered, more futile and consuming. The fashion industry can be harmful to society, due to its unnatural display of weight requirements. In recent years, the alarming trend of fashion models' unnatural weight acquirement has directly affected our society, both as consumers and as individuals dealing with self-esteem issues that turn into dangerous health conditions.Teen and preteen girls are especially susceptible to the trends that the â€Å"h ouses of fashion† determine are â€Å"in†. Fashion is harmful to society for several reasons and it shouldn't be taken as seriously. Fashion is harmful to society because it makes people feel like they have to dress like the models and worst of all have to be the same size as the models. Children get shunned at school because of fashion and not wearing the top labels of clothing. It is unfair to Judge on fashion but that is what we do most of the time. I believe fashion is harmful to society. As the mother of a thirteen year old girl I can tell you that many things that are considered fashionable are ruining society. Whether it be the way they are wearing their clothes or what. There are also other issues that fall into this category television shows and radio. What is acceptable and what isn't? It is all a very thin line but all of it is becoming our undoing. Fashion is not harmful to society as it simply personifies freedom Fashion allows people to express themselves i n an individual way. It provides diversity in society which can only be a healthy thing. It shows that people have freedom and therefore allows them to relax and feel comfortable for who they are. Overall it makes for happier individuals which results in a more prosperous society. Fashion is the reason so many people are up to their neck in credit card debt. How many times do you go to a department store and not get asked by the cashier if you want a charge card for that store. The answer is almost never. Not only will the store charge you $100 for that pair of Sears, they will let you pay more than that if you onto want to pay for it all right now.Fashion is the biggest scam in consumer product because their products are never worth what you have to pay to be fashionable. Fashion beautifies the society There is nothing wrong with the fashion around us. Its Just our perspective that needs to looked upon and changed regarding fashion. Fashion is all around us so we can't imagine a soc iety without fashion. It would Just look like a prehistoric society without fashion. Fashion is the result of the man,s mental development, so there is nothing wrong with it.
